Last week, we had the honor of vending at Pacific International Quilt Festival in Santa Clara, California. First, we need to get this out of our chest – the Bay is absolutely breathtaking! With winding, foggy roads; hills that make you scream as zoom down gripping to that hand wheel, foot on the pedal praying for dear life – speaking from personal experience; and hiking trails that immerse you in blooming greenery, what more can you ask for?!

This California essence was perfectly captured by “Our California” quilt made and quilted by Karla Dellner, Cameron Park, and Shireen Hattan. Each major landmark was made with colorful pieces of felt surrounded by a free motion quilted sky complete with feathers on the borders.

“Our family loves California, and this quilt captures our favorite memories and places of this beautiful state. The quilt’s architecture and ‘vibe,’ along with village houses and flowers are adapted from Around the Garden by Wendy Williams. The San Francisco corner block is from Debra Gabel’s Quilt Blocks from Around the World.”
The day kicked off with a crowd of hopeful quilters gathering around the golden raffle drum! Who was going to win a sewing machine?! Cheers and wails filled the congested floor as winner names were announced. Congratulations to all the winners!

On the final day of the quilt show, the booth had an exciting guest, JUKI Ambassador, Julia Quiltoff! With a ruler and marker on hand, Julia marched to the TL-2200QVP stand up and demo’ed how to make decorate a block.

Julia then doodled away on the J-350QVP S sit down exclaiming she didn’t know what she was doing. You can’t fool us Julia! Look at her work, it is absolutely stunning!

We want to thank everyone who passed by the JUKI booth to say, “hello!”
What’s your favorite part of attending quilting shows?
I have heard good things about Juki machines.
